Authentication Icon for Verified Senders

Authentication icon for verified senders is a Gmail Lab that will attempt to authenticate certain senders as being verified.  This will typically work from companies that send a lot of email to Gmail users.  This can include services like Ebay, Netflix, banks, etc…  This is what it will look like when a verified email comes into your mailbox.

Google Verified Sender Icon

Those little keys next to the Netflix name indicate that Google knows that this email is actually from the verified sender Netflix.  If you were to receive an email from a person trying to pretend to be Netflix in order to gain access to your account, this key would hopefully not be present.  While not 100% foolproof, it is at least one more easy step that we can take to help safeguard our digital lives.

How to Set Up…

1. In your email, click on the gear icon on the top right of the screen.

2. Click on Labs.

3. Scroll down until you see Authentication Icon for Verified Sender. Click enable.

4. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes.

5. Your mail will reload and you are done!
